In addition to the contest (and tasting afterwards!)\, we’ll have kids’ activities and lots of peach-themed items from our vendors. \nIf you’re an amateur baker with a favorite peach pie recipe\, read on to find the contest rules and other basic information below. \nREGISTRATION AND RULES: \nAll New Jersey residents are welcome. All ages are welcome to submit\, but you must be an amateur baker\, not a professional baker/chef. \nParticipants can submit home-baked peach pies or peach cobblers using Jersey peaches; no other dishes will be accepted. \nCompleted entry forms should be e-mailed to farmsintheheights@gmail.com  with the subject line “Peach Pie Contest.” \nEntrants can also register and submit pies at the Market on the day of the event\, at the registration/info table\, until the 11:30 a.m. preferred deadline on Sunday\, August 18th. No entrants will be accepted after 12 pm!!! \nBy submitting your dessert\, you are allowing the Riverview Farmers Market and New Jersey Peach Promotion Council to publish photographs of your dessert on their websites and in related press releases. \nRemember\, you must be a NJ resident and a non-professional baker (i.e.\, you do not make desserts for income/payment). \nJUDGING & PRIZES  \nJudging will start at noon on August 18th. Regular private lessons will continue as well. \nRock Band Class:\nFor students in middle school and above with at least one year of experience on their instrument required. Will be placed in small groups and will learn rock and pop repertoire taught by an experienced musician and instructor. Culminating concert will be arranged. Classes will run from July 1st through August 11th\, meeting for 1.5 hours twice weekly for 7 weeks. $35/class with discounts offered for siblings and multiple week reservations. The Ukulele is a great way to get involved with the guitar because it leads to the instrument so naturally. Maybe you’re still wearing an abdominal brace or you’re worried you have an abdominal separation. Maybe you’re still having some leakage or back pain? or perhaps a sense of heaviness and are afraid that working out will make it worse. Maybe you tried to dive back into your routine but found that things didn’t feel quite right.  \nThis lecture with Meghan Mizrachi is designed to provide clarity on the steps to take after pregnancy\, in order to have the confidence to achieve a pain-free lifestyle and reach your fitness goals. She will cover screening for diastasis\, the truth about sit-ups\, advice about postural behavior\, the best exercises for core strengthening\, and safe exercise progressions. \nThe workshop is held at our JC Fitness Fair at City Hall Plaza\, Jersey City. \nRegister HERE. \n\nAbout Meghan\nMeghan holds her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mercy College and her BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College. She then transitioned to running half-marathons and teaching strength training classes. We will not be selling tickets at the door.  \nJoin JCFamilies and Wildly Fit  for our first ever JC Kids Obstacle Run! The kids will explore fun and challenging age appropriate obstacles as they race through the course with their designated age group. The participants will use their body and muscles balancing\, jumping\, carrying items\, crawling\, and running while conquering obstacles set up for their age. \nIn order to run the event smoothly\, we have some guidelines for everyone\, so please read carefully:\n\n– Parents need to collect runners bibs 30 minutes before their child’s scheduled run time.\n\nSCHEDULE: *please note: the JC Obstacle Run includes the participation from many kids and sometimes due to different circumstances the schedule may change.\n\n10:00 am: Check In Starts\n\n10:30 am: Age group 4 years old\n\n11:15 am: Age group 5 years old\n\n12:10 pm: Age group 6 years old\n\n12:30 pm : Age group 7 years old\n\n1:00 pm: Age group 8 years old\n\n1:20 pm: Age group 9\,to 12 years old\n\n– Parents must sign a waiver before the run.\n\n– All Kids must attend the warm up session before they run.\n\n– Parents/viewers will not be allowed on the course before\, after\, or during the run. If this rule is not followed\, the child will be disqualified and no refund will be given.\n\nAfter completion the runners will get water.\n\n  \nHere’s a little sneak peak of some of the obstacles your kids can expect on our course: \n \nDelicate Balance: The floor is lava\, and the only way across is to balance! \n \nMission Impossible: Get across without getting caught in the wires! \n \nFeisty Fences: Get up and over the fences to keep running the Obstacle Course .  \n \nSpider Crawl: Stay low and move quickly to avoid getting caught in the web. \n \nSloth Hang: Hang like a sloth using both hands and feet from the metal beam and pull all the way across. (Psst: This one’s tricky\, so there will be soft mats to catch any racer who doesn’t make it to the end). \nThe event will take place indoors at The Cordero School at 158 Erie St\, Jersey City\, NJ 07302. \nParents will be asked to sign a waiver at the day of the event while checking in. DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT : Easter Egg Hunt Rescheduled for Next Saturday\n \nDue to the amount of snow in the park\, we are postponing The Great Egg Hunt to next weekend\, Saturday\, March 31\, 2018.\n\nRest of the event plan remains the same.\nEaster Egg Hunt in Hamilton Park/ Easter Egg Hunt in Jersey City\, New Jersey\n\nBe sure to RSVP for the annual Great Egg Hunt in Hamilton Park on March 24th! \nIf your child wants to participate in the egg hunt\, be sure to check the schedule of events as there will be different time slots for different age groups. The younger kids can be accompanied by parents\, and older kids will have the opportunity to search for eggs on their own. This surely is the most favourite Easter Egg Hunt in Jersey City. Since it was a huge success last year and we received lots of positive feedback from families. \nThere is also a time slot for kids with special needs.  Be sure to check the schedule and RSVP to join in on the fun! \n\nOur Easter Egg Hunt in Jersey city is a candy-free event\, and once kids collect eggs\, they will turn them in for treats\, ranging from gliders to necklaces. Be sure to bring your own Easter basket or container. Children will have lots of space to search for eggs and there will be lots of supervision as students from NJCU have volunteered to work at the event\, ensuring that everyone has a good time and is safe while participating. The day will also include dance performances from NIMBUS Dance Works and Next Step Broadway.
