The four major principles of study are Breathing\, Relaxation\, Structure\, and Movement. Instead of teaching various techniques for various situations\, Systema focuses on methods that develop movements that are explosive\, effortless\, spontaneous and unpredictable all while remaining free of excessive tension or emotion- the hallmarks of a true professional. The result is highly efficient\, practical martial application that is both unpredictable and explosive. There are no competitions\, no belts\, no forms to memorize\, or traditions to follow. This  film and discussion event is to provide citizens with a broad context about the importance of recycling plastic items and in particular to generate some momentum for banning single-use plastic bags in Jersey City. \nFormat for the evening will include some refreshments and then kick off with a presentation by special guest Tim Keating / Earthbilt who has been a long time passionado about all the waste us human beings create on this earth. DESCRIPTION:JC Kids Obstacle Run 2019\nJC Kids Obstacle Run 2019: Calling all KIDS from 4 to 12 years old for The JC Kids Obstacle Run 2019 on Saturday March 9th 2019. \nPLEASE NOTE: Registration is CLOSED. We will not be selling tickets at the door.  \nJoin JCFamilies and Wildly Fit  for our first ever JC Kids Obstacle Run! The kids will explore fun and challenging age appropriate obstacles as they race through the course with their designated age group. The participants will use their body and muscles balancing\, jumping\, carrying items\, crawling\, and running while conquering obstacles set up for their age. \nIn order to run the event smoothly\, we have some guidelines for everyone\, so please read carefully:\n\n– Parents need to collect runners bibs 30 minutes before their child’s scheduled run time.\n\nSCHEDULE: *please note: the JC Obstacle Run includes the participation from many kids and sometimes due to different circumstances the schedule may change.\n\n10:00 am: Check In Starts\n\n10:30 am: Age group 4 years old\n\n11:15 am: Age group 5 years old\n\n12:10 pm: Age group 6 years old\n\n12:30 pm : Age group 7 years old\n\n1:00 pm: Age group 8 years old\n\n1:20 pm: Age group 9\,to 12 years old\n\n– Parents must sign a waiver before the run.\n\n– All Kids must attend the warm up session before they run.\n\n– Parents/viewers will not be allowed on the course before\, after\, or during the run. There will be designated areas for parents/viewers to watch the race.\n\n\n\n– Age groups may be divided into heats to avoid overcrowding\n\n– All kids will get a medal at the end of the run.\n\n– The winners of each heat will get a trophy.\n\nVery Important: No parents\, caregivers\, or family members will be allowed on the track before\, after\, or during the run. If this rule is not followed\, the child will be disqualified and no refund will be given.\n\nAfter completion the runners will get water.\n\n  \nHere’s a little sneak peak of some of the obstacles your kids can expect on our course: \n \nDelicate Balance: The floor is lava\, and the only way across is to balance! \n \nMission Impossible: Get across without getting caught in the wires! \n \nFeisty Fences: Get up and over the fences to keep running the Obstacle Course .  \n \nSpider Crawl: Stay low and move quickly to avoid getting caught in the web. \n \nSloth Hang: Hang like a sloth using both hands and feet from the metal beam and pull all the way across. (Psst: This one’s tricky\, so there will be soft mats to catch any racer who doesn’t make it to the end). \nThe event will take place indoors at The Cordero School at 158 Erie St\, Jersey City\, NJ 07302. \nParents will be asked to sign a waiver at the day of the event while checking in. All parents that have registered have received an email with instructions and time schedule. This is an essential step for the students to reflect on their work and receive valuable feedback for them to consider in their next project. \nEvery year\, the entire school engages in a yearlong project that is theme based on a universal topic. Each theme we pick allows us to look at the world from a new perspective and from different angles. Every area of the curriculum is integrated in hands-on applications\, such as combining math\, science and language skills to figure out and document a solution to a problem. \nWe launch our theme each year with a family kick-off event that introduces parents to the topic and the work ahead. At this event\, children present a portion of their study which explaining to parents a part of what they will be learning through presentations and demonstrations. Families come together at this event to engage in their child’s work and learn more. The culmination of the yearlong theme happens in April at our annual Social Studies Fair. The 2017-2018 year’s theme is The Industrial Revolution and the Birth of Cities. \nOur definition of STEAM is not doing projects\, or addressing each area of study in isolation\, but through exploration of a topic where we integrate skills from every core area of the curriculum and use the scientific method. Using their skills in this way\, students are able to reach a successful conclusion by combining their knowledge and experiences to learn and solve problems. (please see our past themes under Events – Social Studies Fair) \n\nLearning by Making Connections\nThe idea of connecting Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Art and Math (STEAM) through the study of a yearlong theme began back in 2009 when the school started. The first theme for a group of 25 toddlers was the 7 Continents. As children explored the seven continents they also studied the unique animals in each continent. Along with their parents and teachers they made little displays depicting the habitats and animals found on the seven continents. This was the beginning of the Social Studies Fair. With every passing year the event has grown in but\, the purpose of learning by making connections with the world around students remains. \nThis year’s Annual Theme at Hudson Montessori School is “The Industrial Revolution and the Growth of Cities”. The Upper Elementary students will be exploring the benefits and challenges of the Industrial Revolution. The Lower Elementary will study how some of the inventions of the ancient Chinese and Roman Civilization contributed to the Industrial Revolution. The Primary classes will explore how cities have come to be a place to meet the needs of man.

Maybe you’re still wearing an abdominal brace or you’re worried you have an abdominal separation. Maybe you’re still having some leakage or back pain? or perhaps a sense of heaviness and are afraid that working out will make it worse. Maybe you tried to dive back into your routine but found that things didn’t feel quite right.  \nThis lecture with Meghan Mizrachi is designed to provide clarity on the steps to take after pregnancy\, in order to have the confidence to achieve a pain-free lifestyle and reach your fitness goals. She will cover screening for diastasis\, the truth about sit-ups\, advice about postural behavior\, the best exercises for core strengthening\, and safe exercise progressions. \nThe workshop is held at our JC Fitness Fair at City Hall Plaza\, Jersey City. \nRegister HERE. \n\nAbout Meghan\nMeghan holds her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Mercy College and her BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College. Meg is passionate about fitness and wellness. Prior to becoming a PT\, Meg spent three years dancing professionally in NYC and abroad. She then transitioned to running half-marathons and teaching strength training classes. Most recently\, her experience as a mom has led her to extensive coursework in pelvic floor dysfunction\, with an interest in diastasis rectus abdominus and postpartum fitness.  Meg’s greatest desire is to help clients reach their goals and achieve their greatest functional capacity. \nShe currently works for Zion Physical Therapy\, a private outpatient physical therapy practice that prides itself on providing unparalleled service that is hands-on\, consumer-driven and evidence-based. \nThe workshop is non-refundable and non-transferable.
